Thank you to Bobby and Allison Fleshman for hosting our members-only event last night.  We had a great turnout, including several new members to the club!  We learned a lot about the cold side to brewing.  I think we all walked away recognizing the need to use yeast nutrient and yeast starters.
It's time to start thinking Bluebonnet!  It sounds like we have at least a dozen members loading up and heading to Dallas at the end of March.  If you'd like more information, visit the Bluebonnet website or shoot me an e-mail.

Our new e-store is up and running!  Go to the Yeastie Gear page to purchase t-shirts, club memberships, and pay entry fees for club contests.

Look to the right...there's the information on the Huebert Brewing competition.  Read it over, e-mail me if you have questions, and for God's sake...win!  So help me I will be pissed if a Yeastie Boy's name is not on that damn bottle when it goes on the shelves in March!!

In lighter news, our online store is about to open up.  This will allow us to collect fees for membership, purchase t-shirts, and enter club competitions.  Watch for updates!

Another great meeting last Friday!  Lots of new faces that were very excited about what our club had to offer.  Thank you to everyone for your understanding in regards to our restraints (thank you ABLE) on taking money for memberships, t-shirts, and contest entries during this meeting.  Some very helpful gentlemen at the meeting helped me get info on online sales, so I'm hoping to get that up and running quickly.  We are very close to reaching 100 paid members and I think we would've done so at the last meeting....stay tuned!

Take a look at our Photo Gallery...yes it has been updated!  Featured are some great photos of our visit to Huebert Brewing Company.  We announced at the last meeting that Huebert is doing a "Be the Brewer" Contest where one lucky homebrewer is going to get his/her recipe brewed and distributed through Huebert.  The contest runs through January 20th....I will have more info on all the particulars coming soon.

Finally, get ready for our next members-only event.  We will be dropping some knowledge on you regarding the effects of yeast and fermentation.  This function, led by two of our members, looks to be very informative and fun for everyone.

Sigh...the battle continues with the archaic alcohol laws in the state of Oklahoma.  I've been in regular contact with an agent from the ABLE commission.  To his credit, he has been very forthcoming with information and open to talking with me.  However, this is just the beginning of the process to change the laws so homebrewer in Oklahoma can have the same freedoms as homebrewers in other states.  With that said, we cannot accept any money at club meetings.  This includes entry fees for club competitions with beer above 3.2% ABW.  Don't worry....our club comps will continue but they will be free (which also means good-bye medals for now).  I'll gladly share more info with everyone at the next meeting, but it's time to get political and get in touch with local legislators.  We can be as angry as we want with ABLE, but they are just the enforcement....we need to communicate with the law changers if we want to make progress.  In the meanwhile, I will continue to gather info and stay in touch with the American Homebrewers Association.

It's official!  Huebert Brewing Company has offered to host a special members-only night on Friday, October 28th, at 5:00 PM.  We will get a chance to share some of our own homebrew with the big boys.  Chris Sanders will give us a brewery tour, talk up and share some great Huebert beers, and let us get involved in some Saison brewing!!  It sounds like a really fun night, so don't miss out.  E-mail me by Tuesday, October 25th, to RSVP.  This is a members-only activity, so if you or a buddy need to join the YB....hustle to Learn to Brew in Moore!

In other news, the Yeastie Boys had a great time helping out at the Southern Plains Craft Beer Festival on Saturday, October 15th.  Although there was no homebrew to be found, we had a great time sharing the joys of craft beer and educating the public on homebrew.  Lots of people expressed interest in our club and I'm hoping our November meeting will be epic!

What a great meeting!  Tasted some amazing beer, met lots of great people, and added another five members to the YB crew!!  If you missed the meeting, there were some important announcements...and if you made the meeting, I forgot to mention a few announcements (I swear it wasn't the beer's fault):
-we are adding some special "members only events" to our calendar.  Keep watching this website, Facebook, and your e-mail for upcoming events!
-Yeastie Boys will be at Zoo Brew in September and the Southern Plains Craft Beer festival in October.  We need to represent well, which means we need your beer!  If you'd be willing to donate at least a 12 pack (kegs work even better), please e-mail me!
-We want to encourage more women into the world of homebrewing...so from here on out all women can join the Yeastie Boys for FREE!!!!!  If any of you guys thinks this is a rip-off, consider how much more brewing you get to do when your wife is supportive of the process.  Plus, I'm getting sick of looking at nothing but dudes at these meetings!
Our club is growing by leaps and bounds...time to take it to the next level and stake our claim in Oklahoma!!
